Back from Hagereselam…

EE board members Thomas Baumann, Lesley Stephenson and Tatjana Meier have returned from their working visit to EE projects in Ethiopia. They were accompanied on the trip by photographer Robert Bellamy, recipient of the EE Super Raffle first prize: a visit to our projects in Ethiopia!

Hagereselam is going from strength to strength. We are particularly happy about the lucrative and growing honey industry throughout our project area, which has only been possible due to the improved land and water conditions in the area as a result of the project. A highlight of our journey were visits to the homes of the beekeepers, where we were invited to try their wonderful barley bread and fresh honey.

You can purchase Ethiopian honey at the EE stall at the “Langnauer Adventslicht” in Langnau am Albis on Friday, November 21st, between 17.00 and 22.00. You’ll find us in the EKZ building opposite the ZKB Bank on Neue Dorfstrasse (corner Gartenstrasse). You will also be able to buy EE Christmas cards and beautiful handwoven scarves and baskets. All proceeds go directly to our projects in northern Ethiopia.

2014-03-Aethiopien-185-edited

Thomas Baumann and Lesley Stephenson have returned from their spring visit to Hagereselam. They report that progress has been made by the farmers and their wives in reshaping a further section of the erosion gully. Highlights of the trip included a meal of Beles dishes with members of the Woreda and Helvetas Ethiopia, and a prize-giving ceremony at Hagereselam Elementary School in Munguda.  Details of the trip will be shared with members and donors at our info apéro in Schloss Sihlberg on May 15th.
